Spray Painting Rusted Garden Chairs
I got these great garden chairs from my parents years ago. We have a rental and the couple that rents from us did not have any patio furniture so we said they could have these chairs & there was a table to go with them. Well, they got rusted and were looking old, so one day when we stopped by to do some gardening we found them out by their trash! They were throwing them away!! I quickly rescued them
and decided that “spray paint can fix anything”! So I took them home and got to work!
Sand block medium grit
spray paint ( I went with pink!!)
spray paint top coat
So, I followed the above steps…sort of…
I can be impatient so I didn’t really sand and this happened:
yep…it started to chip right off, so I sanded them and power washed them to death!!
Then I sanded AGAIN!!
I painted again and it stuck this time…phew.
This is what my yard loo
I had just the table to put them around. I found this beauty on the side of the road. Not only did the chairs need to be re-lifted, but so did the table.
You can read about my table tutorial here.
I really like how the chairs brightened up my porch and they were just the pop of color that my gray washed table needed!
Always second guess furniture that you may be taking to the dump!
You never know what beauty may be hiding under rust!
Spray painting is always a good idea 😉 I wasn’t sure about the pink, but now I love it! and it is fun to do a project that people who visit comment on too! It seems to be a hit with our porch visitors 😉
