In my last post about decorating for Valentine’s Day I shared some ideas for decorating with paper hearts. If you follow me on Instagram you have probably noticed that decorating this mantel is one of my favorite things to do! I have had 3 different Love Day mantels since January. I think this is my favorite one because it is just simple! I call it the love bird mantel!
I shared my favorite design trend of 2016, and it had a lot to do with my mantel. You can see it here. It was very busy, but beautiful and before that the mantel was loaded with Christmas cheer! So, for Spring, I am ready for simple.
Back to loving my house…
This is my other mantel with the Paper Hearts.
For my Valentine table I wanted it to be less “farm house” and more “romantic”… How did I do?
I absolutely love setting a table. It is so much fun to me! It’s like planning an outfit. On special holidays like Valentine’s Day, I love to make those around my table feel special, loved and welcome. I think a personal way to do this is place cards.
The cards I used here were actual Valentine’s Day cards from Ever Thine Home. I posted a link for them here, they are adorable!
I also added my Paper Hearts. I just took them off of the garland and put them in front of each place setting.
They are such great conversation starters. We also learned so much about love while we read them.
I also think that fresh flowers help set a romantic table, don’t you?
One of my favorite quotes is:
“What I love most about my house is who I share it with.”
This is so true for me. I love my family. I love nothing more than preparing a meal and setting the table for my children and husband. It is one way I show them I love them. I also understand the value of sitting around the table. ( If you’re curious to what that is all about you can read that here)
Even when I decorate, it is always done with loving those around me on my mind, making them feel cozy and welcome.
Especially this time of year.
