As you probably have guessed, I love decor!
I love looking at decor, dreaming about decor, looking at other bloggers decor, spending way too many hours on Pinterest.
But my absolute favorite is looking at Christmas decor. I love the inspiration of so many of my favorite blogs. This post is part of a Christmas tour blog hop, If you are coming to my blog from Kristi at the Pickeled Rose, welcome! Isn’t she ridiculously talented? I just love her home tours, especially around the holidays!
This is my favorite pic from Kristi’s post:
The bloggers on this Merry & Bright Christmas Home tour are some of the best. You are going to want to get comfortable & cozy with your favorite drink and check out their beautiful posts, at the end of my post!
Today I am going to show you how we are doing Christmas at the beach house this year! This week I will share the family room & my Christmas kitchen.
I love, love holiday family traditions. Don’t you?
For the last 21 years on Christmas Eve, all 5 of us pack our bags for 2 nights and we sleep over my parent’s house. That is not very unusual because I’m sure a lot of you do the very same thing. What is kind of different about our tradition is we are only 5 miles from my parent’s house!! So, of course, we don’t have to sleep over, but we all do. And we all love it!
On Christmas Eve, my mom cooks a delicious Italian meal and we eat and talk around the table for hours. Then open one gift under the tree. Usually Pajamas!
We wake up and we have breakfast together in my parent’s room. The kids (even as young adults) have to wait in my parent’s room while we get breakfast ready. We eat together and then my dad and my husband read the story of Jesus’ birth from the Bible. We pray together as a family and then we head downstairs to see what Santa brought for us ;).
Then for the rest of the day, we play games, watch movies, nap and eat … then repeat!!!
This year we are going to add staying in Maine to our Christmas tradition. We will stay with the grandparents for 2 days then head up to the beach house for some fun family time.
I loved sharing our kitchen for fall, but adding Christmas decor makes the kitchen seem so much cozier!
We have white cabinets and a navy blue island and we painted the shiplap navy as well. So, I decided to make our accent color green in the kitchen. One of my favorite color combinations has always been green and blue (since the ’80s, when I carried around the Preppy Handbook…do any of you remember that?).
I just added faux and real greenery to the Kitchen.
Oh, and just a reminder, these are still progress pics! We still need to finish the ceiling in the kitchen!
You don’t need to go overboard with Christmas decor. As I told you in my Fall post, I am definitely in much more of a minimalist mood this year!
A wreath for the window and some greenery is just the right amount of decor for the Christmas kitchen.
Christmas in the Family Room
I’ve shared with you in other posts how I have to put my dog, Boston in the other rooms when I am taking photos, but he finds a way to sneak in the pics!
This year I added a little red to the mix! All I did was add some Christmas throw pillows…super simple.
I found my wooden Christmas trees on sale at Marshall’s.
As with the kitchen, the family room is a work in progress as well. We will be painting the floors & redoing the walls this year!
I hope you enjoyed my home tour! Next week I will show you the sitting room and some of the bedrooms!
