Welcome to the May Flowers Home and Garden Tour. Today I will be sharing how I added simple touches to my bedroom to add some spring time touches. This post is part of a blogger tour so at the end of this post you can click on links to some other Home and Garden tours.
I can’t wait to share my garden with you, but being from New Hampshire, I am going to have to wait a couple more weeks to share that with you. So for now we will create spring inside.
I love white sheets and white blankets and throws. That doesn’t change with the seasons, but what I do change is my Pillow shams and my throw pillows.
Our house was built in 1890. It is a big house actually, but our bedroom is small! Good thing we don’t hang out in it. In our house that we built our master was so big people would joke that it was like a little apartment. It had 2 walk-in closets, a sitting area, a huge bathroom, but you know what? We never sat in it, we just slept there.
We finished the attic for our two boys. Both sons will be in college in the fall so everyone asks us if we are going to move up there because it has a huge sitting room, office two closets, a big bathroom, but we say no. We really don’t need all that room for my bedroom. I would rather the kids keep it as a hang out room. So for now we get creative with our small master.
I have shoe dressers from Ikea and I use space-saving hangers in my closet. We have under-the-bed-storage.
Because it is so small something that I didn’t like is that it lacks privacy. So what we decided to do is to hang fabric on our four-poster bed. It creates just the touch of privacy that we needed.
We bought these sheer curtains from Ikea.
They not only create privacy, but when they are closed I think they make the room look so pretty & romantic.
We found this bed at an antique shop in my town. When we bought it, it was white and had some rust spots so we spray painted it black.
It is such a solid heavy bed. It has beautiful decorative touches and posts. So we looked the bed up online and found out our $100 purchase was worth over $3,000! This bed was one of my better finds for sure!
My pillow shams are from Company C and my I love you pillow is from Bows and Burlap
I added some touches of color and faux flowers to my milk painted Pottery Barn shelves. You can read how I painted them here.
A very popular technique to make a small room appear larger is to add a mirror.
Throw pillows aren’t just for beds and couches. I like to use pillows on shelves and even to take up space on the floor!
And of course, adding spring flowers will brighten up any room!
I hope you have enjoyed my 2 simple tips to add spring to your bedroom!
- change out your pillow shams & throw pillows
- add faux and fresh flowers
