Farmhouse Fall Mantel Vignettes are my favorite to create. My least favorite season of the year to decorate used to be fall, but now it is my favorite. As soon as I realized orange does not have to make an appearance just because it is fall, I embraced the season! Don’t get me wrong, bright vibrant leaves of fall are so gorgeous. I have a tree in my garden that takes my breath away this time of year. I live in a state in New England where this time of year it is a tourist destination. People come from all over just to leaf peek!
But for some reason orange accents in the house don’t make me happy. I cringe each time I think about in the early 2000’s I had an orange kitchen and an orange bathroom…but in a few years I may link back to this post because I have just painted my bathroom orange…I mean my grandmother’s mid century modern decor is now all the rage, and when I first got married and country decor was all the rage I couldn’t even fathom a stream lined desk in my office.
Decor is like fashion…I remember wearing mom jeans in college. Now, my 16 year old daughter is wearing them…
so my moratorium on orange is for this year, but who knows in a few falls from now.
But today it is a neutral fall mantel 8 different ways with the same 5 items!
Before I do my mantels I take everything off and clean it & gather what I want to use and put it on my table. I love shopping around my own house to create new vignettes.
I got these great white pumpkins at marshals and then the little white pumpkin gourds at my grocery store.
Now the layering begins until I get it just right.
I got this great bowl at Target, I love to use it as a centerpiece on my table or my mantel. I found this vintage football at an antique sale in Portsmouth NH. The little balls I use as fillers. You can find bags of this for a great price at Target or Marshalls.
I love collecting vintage books. These are old Reader’s Digest books. For symmetry on this mantel I wanted books that were the same size.
The gold pumpkins I got at Rite Aid! They were on sale for only $2.99.
Added some more wood pieces for texture
Adding and taking away…I really do get giddy decorating my mantel.
