I love Christmas for so many reasons. I shared some of my favorites in my last post. My children are teenagers now so I thought we pretty much had our family traditions and didn’t even think we wanted to add anymore, or had the room to add any! Then one day I received some “happy mail” from Ever Thine Home and as soon as I opened the beautifully packaged Christmas ornaments and the book that accompanies them written by Barbara Rainy I just knew we had to include this in our traditions. In the book Barbara writes about all of the 7 royal names of Jesus. Each ornament in the collection has one of the royal names engraved on it. The book gives where the royal names of Jesus are found in the Bible and then other stories and information about the name. It is so creatively written.
I love the excitement of Christmas, the decorating the shopping, but my favorite traditions involve celebrating why we have Christmas. Jesus.
So here is the new tradition we started that we all enjoyed and will add it every year. I of course set the table ;). Then I gave everyone their own ornament at their place setting. The ornaments are called “His Royal Names”. (You can check all the ornaments out here.) Each of us took turns reading the section in the book that described what the royal name of Jesus meant and where in the Bible it is found. Then we put our ornament on the Christmas tree!
“And he shall even rise up against the Prince of Princes and he shall be broken, but by no human hand.” Daniel 8:25
They are so beautiful and sparkly!
They looked beautiful as part of my Christmas tablescape, but look even more beautiful on my Christmas Tree. If you would like to add them to your Christmas decor and traditions, look here.
Merry Christmas! I’d love to hear about your favorite holiday traditions!
