For as long as I can remember my mother has had a gift shelf in her closet. She collects cute and unique gifts to give to her friends and to me 😉 I love how she is always ready to have a gift even for a last minute invitation. She taught me that you NEVER show up to a dinner party with empty hands. You always contribute to the meal and bring a small hostess gift.
So, that’s what I do. I can not tell you how many times mom and I have met at Marshall’s to shop for something, and her carriage will be filled with extra little trinkets. Still to this day will ask her , “who is that for?” to which she always replies, “oh, I’m not sure yet, but isn’t it great?”.
I don’t know another person in the world who thinks of others more than my mom. We both share the same Love Language : “gifts”. Which, means we enjoy giving gifts! My recieving Love Language is definitely “quality time”, and I think hers is “acts of service” actually…I’ll have to check on that one.
My mother gave me a fun summer vase last year for helping to watch her dog. I know I’m her daughter , which means we are family and family doesn’t have to pay each other for helping, but thats my mom, she always says thank you with a little gift.
Isn’t it so cute? and because I always have this on my mind: “what can I make next for a DIY project?”, I thought this would be an easy project to make.
I decided to make this fun gift to give to my friend for our up-coming “supper club”. It will be her hostess gift!
- a vase. I had an extra one from when my husband gave me flowers. Check around your house to see if you have something already. Even a mason jar would work for this project.
- glue gun
- shells. This would be a great project to use actual shells you found at the beach. But for this one I bought a small bag of shells at Michaels for $4.99.
- Measure your burlap to fit around the vase. with your glue gun, put glue on your vase and then roll the burlap around the vase:
2. Then just glue shells where you want them! Easy Peasy!
viola! Isn’t it cute?
speaking of Pinterest, I made a Pinterest graphic just for you, if you liked this project, you can save it for later!
